In operation, when upstream pressure exceeds the force exerted by the spring on the seat, the poppet opens, permitting flow through the valve. In a proportional relief valve, the higher the upstream pressure, the greater the poppet lift. This valve employs an adjustment cap for external cracking pressure adjustment. Eight different spring ranges allow greater system sensitivity. Each spring range is identified with a unique color applied to the springs and external labels. A variety of US Customary and SI port connections, including CPI™ and A-LOK® compression, and female and male NPT are available.
